Anti-theft systems
Immobiliser
To activate: remove the key from the ignition lock.
To deactivate: turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock.
The immobiliser prevents your vehicle from being started without the correct key.
Always take the key with you and lock the vehicle when leaving the vehicle. If you
leave the key in the vehicle, anyone can start the engine.
Starting the engine always deactivates the immobiliser.
ATA (Anti-Theft Alarm
system)
To prime: close all doors and the tailgate/rear door.
Lock the vehicle with the key.
The indicator lamp in the central locking button more flashes.
Under certain operating conditions, the indicator lamp in the central locking button
goes out after a few seconds. However, the alarm system continues to be primed.
To deactivate: unlock the vehicle with the key.
The indicator lamp in the central locking button more goes out.
The vehicle locks again automatically if you do not open a door or the tailgate/rear
door within 40 seconds.
If the alarm system is primed, a visual and audible alarm is triggered by the following:
The alarm is not switched off, even if you immediately close the open door that has
triggered it, for example.
To stop the alarm: press the
button on the key.
or
Insert the key into the ignition lock.
Tow-away protection
Operation
A visual and audible alarm is triggered if the inclination of the vehicle changes
when tow-away protection is primed. This can be the case if the vehicle is raised
on one side, for example.
Priming/deactivating
Tow-away protection is automatically primed approximately 30 seconds after you lock the vehicle.
Tow-away protection is automatically deactivated when you unlock the vehicle.
Deactivating
Remove the key from the ignition lock.
Press button
.
When the button is released, the indicator lamp on button
lights up for about 5 seconds.
Tow-away protection is deactivated.
Tow-away protection remains deactivated until you lock the vehicle again.
Deactivate tow-away protection when locking your vehicle and:
-
loading and/or transporting the vehicle, on a ferry or car transporter, for example
-
parking on a moving surface, as split-level garage
This will prevent false alarms.
Interior motion
sensor
Operation
If the primed interior motion sensor detects motion in the vehicle interior, a visual
and acoustic alarm is triggered. This can happen if someone reaches into the vehicle
interior, for example.
If the interior motion sensor is primed and the auxiliary heating system more switches on, a false alarm may occur as a result of interior temperature monitoring.
In this case, either deactivate the interior motion sensor or switch off the auxiliary
heating.
Priming
Close the side windows, sliding sunroof and sliding sunroof in the rear.
Otherwise the interior motion sensor will not be primed.
Make sure that nothing (such as mascots or coat hangers) are hanging on the rear-view
mirror or on the grab handles on the roof lining.
This will prevent false alarms.
The interior motion sensor is primed automatically after approximately 30 seconds.
Switching off
The interior motion sensor automatically switches off.
Deactivating
Remove the key from the ignition lock.
Press button
.
When the button is released, the indicator lamp on button
lights up for about 5 seconds.
The interior motion sensor is deactivated.
The interior motion sensor remains deactivated until you lock the vehicle again.
Deactivate the interior motion sensor when locking your vehicle:
-
with people or animals remaining inside
-
when transporting it on a ferry or car transporter, for example
This will prevent false alarms.
