Stowage spaces and stowage compartments

Important safety notes

WARNING

If you do not correctly store objects in the vehicle interior, they can slip or be flung around, thus striking vehicle occupants. There is a risk of injury, especially when braking or abruptly changing directions.

  • Always store objects so that they cannot be flung around in these or in similar situations.

  • Always make sure that objects do not protrude from stowage compartments, luggage nets or stowage nets.

  • Close lockable stowage compartments while driving.

  • Stow and secure objects that are heavy, hard, pointy, sharp-edged, fragile or too large in the luggage compartment.

In addition, observe the information in the "Loading guidelines" section more.

Glove compartment

You can lock and unlock the glove compartment using the emergency key element more.

To open: unlock the glove compartment cover if necessary.

Pull glove compartment handle mbsymb6_inv_003d.png in the direction of the arrow.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, an AUX-in connection or a Media Interface is installed in the glove compartment. A Media Interface is a universal interface for mobile audio equipment, such as for iPodsĀ® or USB devices (see the separate Audio or COMAND operating instructions).

To close: fold the glove compartment up and press it until it engages.

Compartment for valuables

The compartment for valuables is located in the seat base of the co-driver's seat and can be accessed from the rear compartment.

To open: unlock cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png using the key.

Swing cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png into the vehicle interior and remove it.

To close: hook cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png onto the inner side and close it.

Lock cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png using the key.

Spectacles compartment in the overhead control panel

To open: briefly press cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.

The spectacles compartment folds out.

To close: press the spectacles compartment into the overhead control panel until it engages.

Dashboard stowage compartments

The lid of the stowage compartment must remain closed while the vehicle is in motion to ensure that stowed objects are contained safely.

To open: lift cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png using recess mbsymb6_inv_003b.png in the direction of the arrow.

To close: fold cover mbsymb6_inv_003a.png down.

Steering wheel stowage compartment

Do not leave any items in the stowage compartment under the steering wheel when lowering the steering column.

The items could otherwise be damaged, since this operation changes the size of the stowage compartment.

Stowage compartment under the twin co-driver's seat

You can stow various articles in the stowage compartment under the twin co-driver's seat.

To remove the seat cushion: lift the seat cushion of the twin co-driver's seat out of front anchorage mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.

Lift the front of the seat cushion up a little.

Pull the seat cushion to the front and out of rear anchorage mbsymb6_inv_003b.png.

To fit the seat cushion: insert the seat cushion into rear anchorage mbsymb6_inv_003b.png.

Fold the seat cushion down.

Press the seat cushion down into front anchorage mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.
