Important safety notes

WARNING

While opening and closing the sliding sunroof, body parts in close proximity could become trapped. There is a risk of injury.

Make sure that no body parts are in close proximity during the opening and closing procedures.

If somebody becomes trapped:

  • release the switch immediately, or

  • during automatic operation, press the switch briefly in any direction

The opening or closing procedure will be stopped.

WARNING

If children operate the sliding sunroof they could become trapped, particularly if they are left unsupervised. There is a risk of injury.

When leaving the vehicle, always take the key with you and lock the vehicle. Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.

WARNING

If you do not reset the sliding sunroof after a malfunction or voltage supply interruption, then the reversing function will malfunction or not work. The sliding sunroof closes with increased or maximum force. Parts of the body could be trapped in the closing area in the process. This poses an increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.

In such or similar situations always make sure that no parts of the body are in the closing area. Always reset the sliding sunroof after a malfunction or voltage supply interruption.

Do not raise the sliding/tilting sunroof if you have fitted a roof carrier. Otherwise, the sliding/tilting sunroof will hit the roof carrier.

This could damage both the sliding/tilting sunroof and the roof carrier.

Do not transport objects that protrude out of the sliding/tilting sunroof or rear-compartment sliding sunroof. You could otherwise damage the respective sliding sunroof.

Do not open the sliding sunroof in the rear if there is snow or ice on the roof, as this could result in malfunctions.

When the sliding sunroof is open, resonance noise can occur, as well as the usual airflow noise. These are caused by low-pressure fluctuations in the vehicle interior. Adjust the position of the sliding sunroof or open a side window slightly. This will reduce or eliminate the noises.

Your vehicle may be equipped with a sliding sunroof, and a sliding sunroof in the rear compartment. Both sliding sunroofs are fitted with an automatic reversing feature. If an object obstructs or restricts a sliding sunroof whilst it is closing, the sliding sunroof automatically opens again.

The sliding sunroofs must be reset if there has been a malfunction or an interruption in the voltage supply more.

You can operate the sliding sunroof or sliding sunroof in the rear from the cockpit. The sliding sunroof in the rear compartment can also be operated from the rear compartment.

Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock.

Press the mbsymb1_inv_0056.png sliding sunroof/sliding sunroof in the rear switch.

If the mbsymb6_inv_002f.png indicator lamp is lit in the mbsymb1_inv_0056.png sliding sunroof/sliding sunroof in the rear switch, operation of the sliding sunroof in the rear is selected.

To open/close: press and hold the mbsymb1_inv_0055.png sliding sunroof switch to the first pressure point in the desired direction.

Release the mbsymb1_inv_0055.png sliding sunroof switch when the desired position has been reached.

To open/close fully: press the mbsymb1_inv_0055.png sliding sunroof switch beyond the pressure point.

The automatic process is started and the sliding sunroof opens or closes fully.

Automatic reversing feature

If the sliding sunroof is obstructed during automatic closing, it will stop and open again.

To interrupt the automatic process: press the mbsymb1_inv_0055.png sliding sunroof switch again in any direction.

The sliding sunroof stops in its current position.

You cannot raise the rear-compartment sliding sunroof.

Operating from the rear compartment

The sliding sunroof in the rear compartment consists of two separate roof sections. The rear sliding sunroof can be operated from the rear compartment.

Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock.

To open/close: press and hold the sliding sunroof switch to the first pressure point in the desired direction.

Release the sliding sunroof switch when the desired position has been reached.

To open/close fully: press the sliding sunroof switch beyond the pressure point.

The automatic process is started and the sliding sunroof in the rear compartment opens or closes fully.

Automatic reversing feature

If the sliding sunroof is obstructed during automatic closing, it will stop and open again.

To interrupt the automatic process: press the sliding sunroof switch again in any direction.

The sliding sunroof stops in its current position.

Opening/closing the roller sunblinds

After releasing the roller sunblind, manually guide it back into the frame. You could otherwise damage the inertia reel or the roller sunblind.

An extended roller sunblind may be damaged by airflow when driving. Only extend the roller sunblind when the sliding sunroof is closed.

The roller sunblind shields the vehicle interior from sunlight.

To retract: hold the roller sunblind by the end strip.

Press the studded surface of release button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png and retract the roller sunblind into the sliding roof frame.

To extend: slide the roller sunblind forward with the end strip, until release button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png on the sliding roof frame engages.

Resetting the sliding sunroof

You must reset the sliding sunroof if there has been a malfunction or an interruption in the voltage supply.

Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock.

Close the sliding sunroof from the cockpit and press and hold the sliding sunroof button for approximately 3 seconds after closing the sliding sunroof.

Problems with the sliding sunroof

If you cannot completely open or close the sliding sunroof, or the sliding sunroof's movements are jerky:

If there are no objects or leaves in the roof guide that prevent the sliding sunroof from closing, there has been a malfunction or the on-board voltage has been interrupted.

Reset the sliding sunroof more.
